CS STARS CAP Program
What is the CAP Program?
The CAP program is an intensive rotational program for recent college graduates to jump start their careers. The program allows participants to experience several different assignments in a variety of departments gaining a broad range of exposure to critical functions of our business. You will gain experience through an integrated process combining on-the-job training, formal learning, performance support tools, and the guidance of an executive level mentor.
What are the Rotations?
As a CAP Associate, you will experience four six-month assignments over the first two years within CS STARS. All participants will select their track of focus: operational or service. The rotations will be predetermined based on the selected track:

Operational Focus Service Focus
Data Processing System Consultant
Solution Architect Solution Architect
Product BSA Product BSA
Service/QA (3mos each) Sales/Data Processing (3mos each)

Data Processing:
  • Responsible for updating client data in our system
  • Updates can be run daily, quarterly, or monthly depending on client’s contract.
  • Participants will learn how to do updates in the first month, then be assigned their own client updates to run and learn troubleshooting
Client Services:
  • Responsible for on-going client support once a client is implemented into our system
  • The first line of troubleshooting for client issues and help maintain the client relationship
  • Participants will learn our system by being assigned tasks, be back-up on clients for the first few months, then be assigned a client.
  • There may be client visits, meetings, and/or phone calls
Projects:
  • Responsible for client implementations, data conversions, and project management
  • Help transition clients into our system
  • Participants will be assigned tasks to work on along different client projects to get a broad experience of an implementation
Product:
  • Responsible for adding new features to our product, liaisons between clients, both internal and external, and development to produce updates to our product
  • This department follows a release schedule
  • Participants will be assigned tasks to work in conjunction with current colleagues to learn the process and will work on new features and documentation
Sales:
  • Responsible for maintaining a new pipeline and bringing in new clients
  • Presents our services to potential new clients and communicates with the clients until the contract is signed
  • Participants will help maintain client data in Sales Force and potentially attend sales calls and/or client meetings.
Quality Assurance:
  • Responsible for testing the new features designed by the Product Department before they are released
  • Utilize both manual and scripting to do quality testing
  • Participants will be assigned features to test in conjunction with a senior team member
At the end of this two-year period, each Associate will transition into a position within a specific area depending on participant career interest and business needs (eligibility for continuing employment is dependent on performance reviews during the rotations). Our annual class of recruits will be small – typically 5 to 12 per year – to ensure you get personal attention, career development, and access to senior management.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the CAP recruiting process?
CAP recruiting is a three-step process. First, applicants must apply online through the MARSH applicant system to the appropriate job posting. From this resume pool, candidates will be selected and invited to a first round interview over the phone. The final step is a second round interview on site in one of our offices.

Do I choose where I work?
All participants will select their track. The rotations will be predetermined based on the selected track.

Will I relocate during the program?
No; however, you may need to travel to client sites as necessary determined during the rotations. Some travel may be required.

Do I receive the same benefits as other employees?
Yes. As a participant in the CAP program you are considered a full-time, salaried employee of CS STARS. Thus, you are eligible to receive the benefits offered by CS STARS

How is performance in the program evaluated?
Performance in the program is evaluated at two levels. The first is the rotation level. Each hosting manager will evaluate the participant twice during the rotation: at the mid-point and upon completion. The hosting manager assesses various aspects of the participant's performance in that rotation. The second is the program level, where the CAP program manager reviews your development and progress within the program on a quarterly basis.

What happens when I complete the program?
Upon completion of the program, you will coordinate with program management to transition to a permanent position consistent with both your career interests and the business needs.

What are my responsibilities to the program?
The CAP Program may participate in various community service activities throughout the year to support the local communities. Members of the program are expected to participate in these events. In addition, all participants are required to attend scheduled learning’s assigned during the rotations, meetings with their mentors, and all colleague calls.
