CS STARS Launches Risk Goggles™, Location-Based Graphical Risk Interface

CHICAGO, Monday, 18 May 2009 - CS STARS LLC, the industry’s leading provider of risk management technology, today announced the release of Risk Goggles™, the firm’s new location-based intelligence tool available through STARS Enterprise™. Risk Goggles provides a location-based graphical interface to risk data, helping clients interpret and interact with data in more meaningful and efficient ways.

Risk Goggles uses Google Maps™ mapping service to deliver an integrated set of intelligence tools such as on-map alerting, summary level Key Performance Indicator (KPI) data, and external risk data (e.g. real-time weather, geological surveys, demographics, news of civil unrest, etc.). Risk Goggles give clients the ability to quickly identify critical risk management events, view emerging threats, and visually assess their organization’s KPIs in detail, or at the summary level.

CS STARS unveiled the Risk Goggles prototype to an audience of more than 400 risk professionals at its Client Conference in mid-March.

“Adding location-based intelligence tools to an already robust risk management system was a major leap past traditional dashboards and reporting,” said Brent Pickens, assistant corporate risk manager of Mars, Incorporated, one of the world’s largest food companies. “Risk Goggles adds an important level of insight for those of us challenged with managing our organization’s risk. And, being able to interact with location-based data is tremendously powerful."

Risk Goggles was recently a highlighted innovation at the RIMS 2009 Annual Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Florida. “People have become so comfortable with location-based systems and interactive maps that bringing these tools to our customers became an obvious next step,” said Bill Diaz, president of CS STARS. “We continue to look for ways to simplify the job of managing risk and our clients benefit from tools, such as Risk Goggles, that visually represent exposures, claims, compliance and related risks.”

CS STARS plans to extend the capabilities of Risk Goggles for its 1000+ risk management clients by introducing additional maps and data sets that are relevant to their industries, geographies, and business requirements. The firm expects to deliver a second release of Risk Goggles before the end of the year.
